Caregivers Support Group
Meets to share knowledge and experience in caring for parents or other dependents
In response to a number of request from members of the Micah community, the Caregivers' Support Group, begun in 2001 and suspended in 2004,
is being revived. All interested parties, whether currently caregiving or not, are invited to attend meetings. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact our Caregiver coordinators.
The group is for people who are caregiving for elderly family members or others for whom they are responsible. Meetings provide a combination of practical information and experiential support. Some meetings function as support group gatherings and other feature presentations by experts in legal, social service, and other issues. Among the topics previously discussed were--
- long-term care insurance
- accessing resources long-distance
- end-of-life issues
- stress on family relations
- medicare and other medical insurance
- costs of various types of supportive living situations.
Participants share views in a confidential setting on the emotional, physical, financial and logistical aspects of caregiving. Interested individuals are encouraged to participate on a regular or ad hoc basis and new group members are welcome.
