Deborah Ayala Srabstein, Education Director
A native of the DC area, Deborah is thrilled to be joining the team at Temple Micah. From 2003 to 2007, she served as the Director of Education at Shaare Torah in Gaithersburg, MD. Her teaching experience includes the American Hebrew Academy, the nation's only pluralistic Jewish boarding school (www.americanhebrewacademy.org), The Rashi School (www.rashi.org), Boston Area's Reform Jewish Day School, and Prozdor, Boston Hebrew College's Hebrew High (www.prozdor.org). She also has a variety of formal and informal congregational teaching experience.
Deborah holds a Master's Degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University and an undergraduate degree in Religion from the University of Rochester, where she spent a semester abroad at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a summer abroad studying art history in Florence. A lover of Israel, Deborah participated in Project Otzma, a year-long Israel leadership service corps program.
Deborah interests are her Sato dogs, learning to play the marimba, reading, hiking, and swimming. She can't wait to build a mangosteen at Temple Micah!
